I am a big believer in heuristic evaluation. I’ve done it a couple of times recently – once for an eLearning course, and also for the usability of http://www.k-12leadership.org. This is the questionnaire I’ve used for that (note the copyright – not my original work!)
While in my current job, we’ve built two significant courses. On one, I was the technologist; on the other, I was both technologist and course creator. Both were built with Articulate Storyline within the Learning Cart Management System. Bringing up Learning Cart was also a project. Because the courses are for revenue, I am not comfortable with showing the actual courses, but below are some screen caps, as well as the initial course’s instructions, which were then imported into Storyline. A persona is a fictionalized amalgam of your target user group. I find them really helpful in thinking about how to design systems and workflows with the client in mind.
